	Introduction ' To promote the gathering and spreading of knowledge about the Napoleonic era'. This is, in a few words, the goal for which in 1995 the Napoleonic Association of the Netherlands (NAN) was raised. The NAN is an umbrella organisation for Dutch and Belgian re-enactment groups. Re-enactment is best translated as Living History. The NAN strives to organise one or two major events in the Netherlands and/or Belgium every year. Every of these events is executed according to pre-arranged scripts. Besides its Living History component, the NAN also strives to provide historical advice and to facilitate historical research for individuals as well as corporations and institutes.
